Dear believers,
Do you have older children who are not serving the Lord? Is your heart discouraged as you watch them walking in the ways of the world, loving the pleasures of sin and denying the existence of God? You’ve loved them prayed for them, even begged and pleaded with them not to turn their back on God to no avail? Are you saying to yourself, “Where did I go wrong?”
If so, receive this this encouragement from the Word of God today from Psalm 89. God made some wonderful promises to David about his descendants. Promises we can claim for our own children today.
1. God promised David that if his sons did not follow Him that He would discipline them severely.
30 “If his sons forsake my law
and do not follow my statutes,
31 if they violate my decrees
and fail to keep my commands,
32 I will punish their sin with the rod,
their iniquity with flogging;
2. God promised to continue to love them and remain faithful to them. He will keep His covenant promise to David regarding his descendants.
33 but I will not take my love from him,
nor will I ever betray my faithfulness.
34 I will not violate my covenant
or alter what my lips have uttered.
3. God promised David’s seed will endure and his line will continue forever .
35 Once for all, I have sworn by my holiness—
and I will not lie to David—
36 that his line will continue forever
and his throne endure before me like the sun;
37 it will be established forever like the moon,
the faithful witness in the sky.”
Dearest believers, let these word bless your heart God and may God give you grace to trust Him for your children’s salvation.
When you see your adult children suffering consequences and judgments as a result of their sinful choices, be encouraged! You are witnessing the outworking of God promise to watch over our children and discipline them. He is working in their lives to get their attention and draw them back to Himself! Some of you well-meaning parents try to alleviate your child’s pain by rescuing them from sins consequences. Stop it! You may be hindering the work of God in their lives! No, let them go through the suffering, as hard as it is to watch as a parent, and pray that the pain and punishments that accompany sin will accomplish Gods purpose. Repentance and restoration of relationship with Himself! May God give us strength and wisdom to endure.
Trust God’s promise to continue to love and be faithful to our children and put your faith in God to establish your family line throughout all generations. Hallelujah!
Thanks be to the Lord for these wonderful promises and praise His Holy Name! Be encouraged.
Love and blessings,
Sister B
